Over the summer, I discovered that I have almost zero patience for shopping. The trip to County Market or Wal-Mart is dreaded. And it's not because school has been out and I am taking the kid. The kid, for the most part, is pretty well-behaved in the store, so the problem is not him. It's the whole process: driving there, getting a decent cart, managing the list and coupons, checking out, loading up the car, unloading the car. Oh, and let's not forget my biggest annoyance: the people. I have a pretty low tolerance for rude people, whether it be fellow shoppers who either cannot drive their sit-n-shops, or take up the entire aisle while they send a text message, or kids throwing balls in the toy aisle. And it's not just the shoppers, it's the employees as well. While some are very nice and helpful, there's enough out there that give the rest a bad reputation.
Which is why the bulk of my household shopping over the summer has been online. I am in love with soap.com and its partner sites. I can do all that shopping in half the time without leaving my house. And those little extra impulse buys are not finding their way into my cart! My 7th Generation products are available...no multiple trips. I can even get some grocery items. It's awesome. I have lists set up that I can just click and it goes into my cart, so I'm not constantly browsing (this took a little while to set up, but so worth it). And the only rude person I have to deal with is the five-year-old who wants fruit snacks :o) As for shipping...my totals are usually enough to qualify for free shipping. No worries there.
Even Matt is on board with this, and after talking with some friends and hearing their rave reviews, we signed up for Amazon Prime, and will likely do more of this type of shopping through Amazon, and ditch the Sam's membership since our trips there are less frequent.
Now....to find grocery service that delivers everything.... :o)
